Aquilaria malaccensis · Kalimantan, Borneo
LIMITED BATCHESArtisanally harvested from mature Aquilaria malaccensis deep in the rainforests of Kalimantan, Indonesian Borneo. These trees have been infected naturally — no artificial inoculation — producing agarwood with an intensity that cultivated plantations cannot replicate.
Grade AA Kalimantan opens with a striking leather note, evolving into dark stone fruits — think overripe plum and blackcurrant. The dry-down reveals a persistent, clean smokiness that lingers for hours. This is oud for those who know.
Each batch is small — typically 10-15ml from a single distillation run. When it's gone, the next batch will be different. That's the nature of artisanal oud.
Kalimantan, the Indonesian portion of Borneo. One of the last great rainforests on Earth. The agarwood here develops under unique conditions — high humidity, ancient soil, and natural infection cycles that take decades.
Aquilaria produces resin in response to natural fungal infection over 20-50 years. Cultivated trees are artificially inoculated after 5-7 years. The difference in complexity is profound — and unmistakable.
Each distillation batch yields 10-15ml. We buy entire batches when the quality meets our standard. When a batch sells out, the next one will have its own unique character.
Grade AA stands alone, but also layers beautifully with sandalwood, amber, or rose attars. Apply oud first, let it settle 5 minutes, then layer.
